ELECTED OFFICIALS

Franklin Township is governed by a board of four elected officials; three Township Trustees and one Fiscal Officer, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 505.01. Trustees are the legislative authority in the Township with the authority to adopt policies, and resolutions, assess tax liens and approve an annual budget.

The Fiscal officer, formerly referred to as a “clerk”, is an elected official, but independent of the Township Trustees. The fiscal officer must keep an accurate record of all spending, accounts, and transactions, but has no spending authority themselves. The Township Fiscal Officer is intended to be a neutral third party who advises the Board of Trustees on the township’s financial status.
